Chief Hall's place setting for his recognition ceremony. What an amazing accomplishment, achieving the highest enlisted rank in the Air Force. Congratulations Chief! Shay7997 on Flickr: Posted a Photo
This is another shot from me goofing off with the new backdrop. I think this will be the last image I post from my playtime. I'm really looking forward to the Chief Recognition Ceremony. I just hope my shoulder doesn't protest too much. I'm hoping to get out this week and do some shooting, but I don't know how likely that is because I'm in the "just got out of the sling and shouldn't be touching the camera" phase. I don't want to push it too much. Shay7997 on Flickr: Posted a Photo
After a long hiatus, thanks to shoulder surgery, I am back, and hoping to start doing a little portrait photography. I was asked to photograph the Chief Recognition Ceremony (coming up on Feb 19th) and bought a couple backdrops. My husband and I thought it would be a great idea to play with the backdrops with us as the test subjects. We had a lot of fun taking the photos and I'm so glad to be out of the sling! I know it has been forever since I have posted anything. This is becoming a common thing for me. I had hurt my shoulder back in July. I just found out a couple weeks ago I tore the cartilage in my shoulder and will be having surgery January 7th. It\'s been difficult to cart the camera around. Plus, I got an iMac and had quite a few issues with it that I think are finally sorted out. Apple has phenomenal customer service. I can\'t praise them enough. A friend of mine, Bill Dickinson of Joyfull Sounds organized a Praise Day back in October. The Dingo Band was one of the praise bands. Shay7997 on Flickr: Posted a Photo

We had a pretty good storm rolling in a while ago. The birds were flying together in such a large group and they were beautiful. This picture does not do the birds justice. I couldn\'t capture their actual formations, so I figure a scattering is good enough! Shay7997 on Flickr: Posted a Photo
We had a pretty good storm move in this week. A friend of mine from work called and told me about how pretty the sky was looking. Her exact words were, "It looks like a pink highlighter blew up in the sky." I figured I'd go out and get some shots. While I couldn't get to the "pink highlighter" in time, I was able to capture the sunset with all the beatiful colors. God really does have some wonderful colors on His canvas. I'd like to teach the world to sing In perfect harmony I'd like to buy the world a Coke And keep it company That's the real thing. Shay7997 on Flickr: Posted a Photo
It's amazing what you can find when you go off the beaten path. I started thinking of what Jack sang to Rose in Titanic when i saw this. "Come Josephine, my flying machine. Going up, she goes, Up, she goes...." Shay7997 on Flickr: Posted a Photo
It's been a while! David and I went to a little town in Texas called Odell. This used to be the Odell school, but there's also a sign in front saying it's the Odell Worship Center. It's a very interesting building and it's a shame it's not used anymore. I wish I had been able to get closer to it, but it was roped off with barbed wire. Shay7997 on Flickr: Posted a Photo
The first photo to be uploaded from the new camera. I figured black and white suited this much more than color. I had never seen this old creamery before in Lawton. I can\'t imagine it actually being there, but there it stands. Shay7997 on Flickr: Posted a Photo
Our hike Saturday took us up a \"mountain\" and up some more. This shot was taken from as far back as I could get from the edge and still get a shot. Yes...i\'m a chicken. The hike was awesome, the views were phenomenal. I just wish I had pulled my camera out more. But it was my first time on this path, and we did more climbing than hiking. I didnt want to risk anything happening to my camera, so I kept it tucked away in the backpack for most of the....climb. Shay7997 on Flickr: Posted a Photo
We went hiking today at the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. Every time I go, I always say I\'m going to get a shot of this tree, but I never do. It\'s out there alone in this wide open field. Finally, I shot it today. I also bought the Canon Rebel T1i today. We went on Ft. Sill and the post exchange had it for a decent price, with no tax, so I couldn\'t beat that. I took some photos around the post, so when I post them, I\'ll let you know which ones are from it. It does HD video too. I may just have to tinker with that. Shay7997 on Flickr: Posted a Photo
Driving along the backroads of Oklahoma, we managed to run into someone we know out shooting. While my husband enjoyed shooting too, I took pictures of the surroundings. Shay7997 on Flickr: Posted a Photo
This is the little sign on the nitrogen fill for the abandoned missile silo we actually had access to. It was pretty rusted out, which is a feature I like on my "subjects." Shay7997 on Flickr: Posted a Photo
I really liked the sign in front of the missile silo on the previous photo. I don't know exactly what drew me to making this particular shot with the focusing i did, but I'm happy with the results. I hope the noir processing doesn't take away from it. I think it adds, but that's me. Shay7997 on Flickr: Posted a Photo
David found a list of old missile silos here in southwest Oklahoma. We went out looking for them over 2 weekends. The first weekend, this was the only one we could get close to. The others had all been sold and were being lived in (the control centers) and the quanza huts were being used to house farm equipment. I really only got photos of two. This one and one on the following weekend. I really enjoyed checking them out. I couldn't get inside the fence on this one. There's only one way in and out, and it's heavily overgrown. But it was so worth going. Shay7997 on Flickr: Posted a Photo
This is our old Headrick Bridge. I chose to do this in HDR to bring out the details of the bridge and the sky. |
